About Kimberly Mccarthy

Kimberly McCarthy Hilton Head Island, SC Real Estate Agent Headshot

Agent Details

Meet Kimberly

Hi there! My name is Kim McCarthy and I am originally from Kentucky. I have called Shelbyville, Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green my hometowns over the years. As the proud kid of a veteran, I also spent time living in Georgia, Texas, and Oklahoma. I attended the University of Kentucky and Spalding University, graduating with a master’s in school counseling. In 2021, I hung up my school badge and retired after 28 years of serving students and families within the public education system.

Retirement has allowed me to fulfill a longtime dream of calling the Lowcountry of SC home. My husband and I are the proud parents of a vivacious and talented daughter who is busy pursuing her dreams in acting and creative arts in Los Angeles, CA. We have three fur-babies -two dogs and a cat. Last year we started construction on a new home in Beaufort and are excited to soon call Cat Island home.

During my time in the school system, my primary responsibility was to work directly with students and families, identifying needs, removing barriers, and assisting with access to resources within the school and community. I truly believe that my former work as a Family Resource Center Coordinator is a strong foundation and natural transition to assisting people in addressing their real estate needs. Being a natural “helper”, I am ready to offer support at all levels of real estate, whether one is looking to sell, buy, or rent, explore financing options, seek out community resources, or just learn more about living in the Lowcountry.

I am strongly influenced by my family’s tradition of service to others as Army officers, farmers, state government, and the public school system. I was raised to believe that it is important to do one’s part in helping others and being involved in the community you call home. In my past life, I was active with Dare to Care, Metro United Way, Blessings in a Backpack, and other local youth organizations. I am also passionate about protecting and preserving the wildlife and waterways of the Lowcountry.

In addition to staying busy with my real estate career, I enjoy creative endeavors including landscaping, home décor and design, dancing, music, and local art events. Some may attribute it to my Irish heritage, but I really do love meeting new folks and sharing stories. Being from Kentucky, I love to talk horses, bourbon, and basketball. One of the best things about living here in the Lowcountry is being oceanside with my toes in the sand and a good book in my hand. I always have an extra chair with me, so come on by and sit for a spell.
